A small-data approach
AcademeSignal is designed to collect only what is needed to run a useful academic job community. Replace this launch template with counsel-reviewed terms before a public production release.
Public community updates
Community posts contain a selected hiring stage, an optional message of no more than 200 characters and a timestamp. Posts should never contain names, email addresses, telephone numbers, applicant identities or confidential committee information.
Anonymous contribution
A visitor may make one anonymous contribution. In production, the server stores a one-way hash derived from limited technical information and a random device token to enforce that allowance. The raw IP address should not be stored in the community post.
Accounts
Registered users sign in by email link. The authentication provider stores the email address for account access and abuse prevention. Public community posts do not display the email address or account identity.
Private application tracker
Saved jobs and personal application stages are stored locally in the user’s browser in this version. They are not transmitted to the public message board. Clearing browser storage removes them.
Moderation and retention
Reports may be hidden, reviewed or removed for privacy, safety, harassment, misinformation or platform abuse. Establish a documented retention schedule before launch and provide a contact route for access or deletion requests.
Third-party sources
Official job links lead to external institutions and job boards with their own privacy practices. AcademeSignal does not control those websites.
